One of the aims of the project entitled “Escape from the Labyrinth of Violence” is to contribute toward clarifying the situation around sexual violence in the Czech Republic. While the research is currently underway, it is still possible for you to get involved with it.

This survey, which is being executed by the Focus Agency, is divided into three parts. The first quantitative investigation will research awareness and the degree of experience with sexual violence among a representative sample of the Czech population. The second quantitative section focuses on the victims of sexual abuse and rape. The plan is to reach out to 100 respondents for that section. The third qualitative segment will involve in-depth interviews with 20 victims. We would like it if the research would contribute more precise data about how victims cope with traumatic experiences, whom they confide in and when, whether they seek professional help and what prevents them from doing so. As part of the qualitative interviews we will, among other matters, map the impacts of trauma on the quality of victims’ lives.

Research of this extent and with this kind of focus has never been implemented in the Czech Republic before. There is almost no data available about it, not even a minimum of background information for addressing the situation. That is why we are glad we can implement this investigation thanks to the Norway Grants. We will present the results of the survey as part of a public hearing in the Senate and we will draw attention to the blank spots that we need to begin taking an interest in.

We would like to ask you to deliver information about the option of joining this research to your own clients in this target group. For more information, contact us by e-mail at persefona@persefona.cz or by telephone at 732 534 024.

The Project is being supported by the Open Society Fund Prague from the Let’s Give (Wo)men a Chance programme, financed from Norway Grants.
