We support clients’ personal growth

31. 8. 2015
Who wouldn’t want to learn something new in life or at least deepen their knowledge and skills? We are making this possible for our current clients thanks to our project “Comprehensive aid to victims of domestic and sexual violence and their loved ones”. As of August we have launched group activities of an educational nature.

We have prepared a total of five courses that will enrich our clients in terms of their practical lives. The skills they master through the course can help them make progress. Approximately 10 participants will be exposed to new experiences in each course.

In August we began a course in basic self-defense which was led by an experienced instructor in the technique of the self-defense system Krav Maga. Knowing how to prevent assaults and how to defend oneself in case of attack is something that every woman appreciates. Once mastered, such skills are never lost, especially when it comes to people at risk of domestic and sexual violence.

Another activity already underway is an arts course. During creativity one relaxes, arrives at other thoughts, and also acquires new ideas for their own creations. The added value of creativity is that the clients will be able to keep their artworks and have a nice memory of the time spent in the course.

Participants in September’s course on communication will also learn how to defend themselves. Within the framework of the basics of communication we will review aggression versus assertiveness and submissiveness. The clients will practice how to defend themselves against the manipulation to which they are frequently subjected. The overlap of practice and theory will support their getting as much out of the course as they can.

Last but not least, we have not forgotten about hard skills, such as working with computers and the Internet. Our course dedicated to MS Word will review the basics of working with this word processing program. Participants will learn to format various types of texts that they will use, e.g., when seeking work. Another course will focus on security on the Internet and on social networking sites. We will teach our clients how to search for relevant information sources and how to rapidly orient themselves in the flood of information that is available to them online. This project and all of the group education activities are supported with a grant from Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway as part of the EEA Grants.
