The mission and purpose of Persefona is to increase understanding of all aspects of the issues of domestic and sexual violence and to seek the optimal ways to address it in the following framework by:
a) Providing comprehensive professional aid and support to people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic and sexual violence, to their loved ones, and to persons who have problems dealing with their own aggressoin in relationships;
b) Educating and informing lay people and professionals about the issue of domestic and sexual violence;
c) Drawing attention to the need for systemic changes in the area of domestic and sexual violence and contributing to the promotion of such change;
d) Developing collaboration between non-state and state institutions contributing to addressing the issue of domestic and sexual violence.
The vision of Persefona is of a society in which people are aware of their own self-worth and the responsibilities they have toward themselves and others, a society where violence is understood to be a dysfunctional way of behaving in relationships. We are aiding people with becoming aware of their own competence, which will make it possible for them to co-create such an equal, open, supportive society together with us.
Persefona achieves this mission and purpose through the following main activities:
a) Providing professional counseling - legal, psychological and social;
b) Educational activities;
c) Professional analytical activities;
d) Conducting campaigns and information events;,
e) Collaborating with non-state and state organizations ‒ building partnerships, participating on interdisciplinary teams, committees, state bodies, etc.
